Eloise Kim

Dr. Eloise Kim, is a performing artist and passionate music educator. Kim received her doctorate with Daniel Pollack at the USC Thornton School of Music, where she was the recipient of the DMA Keyboard Departmental Award. She also holds a Bachelor of Music degree at The Colburn Conservatory with Ory Shihor and Master's at the Manhattan School of Music with Andre-Michel Schub. An active performer, Kim has been a featured artist at the Colburn Contemporary Ensemble concerts in Los Angeles, The Best of Colburn winter concert series in Three Rivers, California, and the Stecher and Horowitz Foundation Young Artist Series in New York City. She also soloed concerti with the Vancouver Symphony (USA), Jefferson Symphony in Colorado, and the Columbia and Beaverton Symphony Orchestras in Oregon, and performed at the Aspen, Orford, Banff, "Art of the Piano,” and Lake George festivals.

As the grand-prize recipient of the Pinault International Piano Competition, Dr. Kim had her first Carnegie Weill Recital Hall debut at age 11. She was also a semi-finalist of the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition, finalist of the New York International Piano Competition, and a prizewinner of the Lennox, Kingsville, and Jefferson Young Artists International piano competitions. In 2015, Kim was a recipient of the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Graduate Arts Award, one of only 20 young artists selected nationwide to receive a total of $100,000 scholarship for their graduate studies.

As an active chamber musician, Kim has been a finalist of the International Chamber Music Ensemble Competition and a member of the Areta Piano Trio at Manhattan School of Music, in which the piano trio was the three-time winner of the Lillian Fuchs Chamber Music Competition. At the Manhattan School of Music, Kim graduated with the honorary Helen Cohn Award in recognition as an Outstanding Pianist in Chamber Music.


As an educator, Dr. Kim taught group classes at the Adult Studies in the Colburn School program and was also a Teaching Assistant and Studio TA at the USC Thornton School of Music, instructing group piano classes and individual instruction at the University.


Dr. Kim currently holds a private piano teaching studio and works as a staff pianist at the Colburn Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles, CA. She is honored to be a part of HeARTists and seek to dedicate her performances to send a powerful message to the community.

Interesting Trivia/Fun Fact:

I used to be obsessed (and still a fan) with pigs! Had a huge collection of stuffed pig animal dolls, toys, notebooks, and pencils, all pig themed. So my friends who knew this called me “Piggy Woman” as a nickname.
